With over three thousand hours of sunshine a year, Fuerteventura is the closest of the seven Spanish owned Canary Islands to the African coast with only a 100km stretch of ocean separating the 'Punta de la Entallada' from Cape Juby in Morocco.

There is nowhere else in the Canary archipelago where you will find as many enormous sand dunes and long sandy beaches and even though most of the land consists of stone and rock as testament to the islands volcanic past, these are some of the most impressive beaches in the whole of Europe some of which stretching approx 98km long and 30km across at the widest point.

These amazing beaches combined with the almost constant trade winds make Fuerteventura a virtual haven for lovers of water sports. Every year hundreds of surfers, windsurfers and divers descend on Fuerteventura to enjoy its perfect conditions and during the month of July the island is host to the P.W.A world windsurfing speed and slalom event at Sotavento in the south.

But if you are not a water sport enthusiast do not worry, there are many other attractions such as a new golf resort, walking and biking excursions and various trips for people to discover different aspects of the Fuerteventura landscape and culture such as the Betancuria Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography and Tefia Craft Village to name a few.
